Diriyah Company Welcomes HRH Prince William to Diriyah, The City of Earth
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Diriyah Company, welcomed HRH Prince William, the Prince of Wales, to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif. This historic site, the birthplace of the First Saudi State, is located in Diriyah, the City of Earth, on the outskirts of Riyadh. As a transformative destination, At-Turaif stands as a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage and a symbol of its ambitious future.
Commenting on the visit, Diriyah Company Group CEO Jerry Inzerillo said: “This visit represents the strong bonds that Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom hold dear. It was an honor to welcome HRH Prince William to the historic At-Turaif district, the cornerstone of the Diriyah Project that is one of the Kingdom’s most ambitious and promising Vision 2030 projects. Here we celebrate the past, embracing tradition while building the future. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to explain our future vision for Diriyah and to share the three centuries of history embedded in the walls of the At-Turaif palaces and alleyways.”
The goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 are also fully aligned with the principles that are behind Prince Williams’s global Earthshot prize that he launched in 2020. Diriyah Company’s Wadi Safar masterplan is also an area committed to biodiversity and sustainability and is making a significant contribution to the shared sustainability goals within the Earthshot initiative.
This is Prince William’s first visit to Diriyah and At-Turaif, a site undergoing meticulous restoration. He joins a growing list of global leaders who have experienced the majesty of Diriyah in the past year, including US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and His Majesty the King of Bhutan.
